HOW TO CONTRIBUTE
The environmental conservation project of the Charco del Ingenio has been, since its inception in 1991, a citizens and community initiative, independent of any government agency or other institution. Thanks to the support of local people and community groups, as well as from other sources, we have been able to establish and develop this unique conservation effort in San Miguel Allende. As an independent non-profit organization, there is always a need of ongoing support.
There are three ways to participate: as a member, as a donor or as a volunteer.

1. MEMBER
This is an easy way to financially support El Charco, as well as to enjoy the following benefits:
- free entrance for the member and two guests
- discounts for El Charco activities and events
- subscription to the monthly electronic newsletter
- volunteer opportunities working with the Garden staff
Membership costs $600 pesos per year, and can be purchased at the Visitor Center of the Botanical Garden, or in downtown San Miguel at Border Crossings (Mesones and Reloj). You can also download the form, print it and send it, both for becoming a member or renewing.
In addition to the benefits that membership offers, it is also a simple and effective way to collaborate with the Botanical Garden.

2. DONOR
Whatever the amount of the donation, it can be made in a simple and direct manner to El Charco del Ingenio AC, in cash, by check, bank deposit, or online through the internet. For a U.S. tax receipt, make your checks payable to the San Miguel Community Foundation, putting “El Charco del Ingenio AC” on the memo line as the beneficiary of the donation.
The donor may specify how the money is to be used:

3. VOLUNTEER
The daily tasks of the staff of the botanical garden - made up of a dozen workers - has been accomplished for years with the support of residents or visitors who have offered their time, their work, their abilities and imagination to help achieve the goals of the Garden.
On a flexible and creative basis, volunteers can help Charco staff in various tasks:
- working with plants in the botanical collection
- propagation of plants in the nursery
- pruning of native vegetation
- assistance at the Visitor Center
- guided visits
- environmental education program
- library and office work
- publicity, marketing and fundraising
- assistance with membership, workshops and events
- and more
To sign up as a volunteer, you may download the form, fill it and contact Naomi Zerriffi: nzerriffi@yahoo.com.
